Swimming Through the Acropora Forest
This is what a healthy Staghorn (or Acropora cervicornis) coral forrest looks like!
The genus Acropora are the branching corals and these are also the type of coral who’s population is dropping at alarming rates. A. cervicornis and A. palmata are especially important to the coral reef ecosystem because of their branching appearance. With more corals like these they allow for more niches for other animals, therefore growing the habitat structure and reef diversity.
